Giving Tuesday

#GivingTuesday . Just this last Tuesday was GivingTuesday! A day that has been expanded across America and now the world; promoting giving and helping others. A few companies to partner with the organization to help increase the success and benefit of the day were Dicks Sporting goods, HubSpot and Causecast. The day is revolutionizing corporate philanthropy by having full-profit companies support the cause with the non-profit organizations that are involved. These large profit companies bring in a base of customers that could never be assembled by the organization itself and a substantial amount of awareness about the day is created. With the companies help Giving Tuesday is able to be extremely successful and will hopefully have more partners in the years to come.

My view on The "Buying Season"

Black Friday, a day recognized by almost as much people as Thanksgiving and Christmas is, but still growing every year. The day is beginning to become a holiday on itself, with people flocking to stores, weighting in lines for unnecessary amounts of time and sales on products that are extremely overrated. Although this day allows for huge profit to be made and a economic boost every year, there is something wrong. The whole idea about the holiday season is to give back to others out of pure kindness. Its practically barbaric how people fight and sometimes get killed on this day just for some "saved" money, which people will just end up spending on more stuff. There are places in the world that lack sanitary water and consistent food sources but yet they do not have as much anarchy as this day does. Instead of trying to force in more profit on a single day, when you have an entire holiday season of it, maybe give back to the community more. I think all parties involved could be more proactive and try to put more effort towards a day like giving Tuesday.

Tesla-Human resources

One of the companies I have invested in and I suggest investing in, is Tesla. Their main site is http://www.teslamotors.com/ and is appealing and factual to explore through. One thing about their site that stuck out to me was there easy access job search within site. The HR can be seen as very established on the site and obviously tries to get new people working for the company by offering a variety of jobs . Although the external recruiting is very impressive they also focus on internal by having constant revaluations of workers and adjusting them to the right position to best benefit the company, while also having the needs of the employees met. Tesla is a company to look out for.

Five companies

Five top companies to watch are Dave and Busters, Apple, Nike, Cal Maine, and JC Penny. The best investment to make out these five companies would be in Nike because they are a solid company and have a large consumer basis that is growing.

Stock Tips

One company to look out for this year in stocks is YELP. Yelp has doubled over the last year and is  predicted to do the same this year . It is listed outperform on many sites and also beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate on several of their predictions. It has a P/E ratio of 8.41 and a Volume (avg) 2.47M . The company is considered to be separate from most media websites because its focus is on connecting people to local businesses. This is one stock to defiantly watch.

Intro to me

Hello, my name is Jared Marshall.  I selected the elective intro to business because I have a very large interest in business, especially investing. I find types of investments from junk bonds to CDs to be important because we live in a society based off the concept of money.Even the idea of paying attention and putting money into your 41k  early in life is key to having a planned future. I would like to learn more about business through this class and add to what I know.

Tom's Shoes

In 2006, TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie befriended children in a village in Argentina and saw that they didn’t have adequate shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes for a child in need.

TOMS has given more than 10 million pairs of new shoes to children in need and helped restore sight to over 200,000 people.

Whole Foods
As a company, we are quite unique. Our stores are not cookie cutter big box-type stores with directives from “corporate” about how to run the business. Each of our stores has a lot of latitude in deciding the best way to operate that individual store to meet the needs of the local community. That makes community giving really special and fun.

Symbol

Symbol Technologies was a manufacturer and worldwide supplier of mobile data capture and delivery equipment. The company specialized in barcode scanners. Although there was much more than manufacturing mobile data within the company. In 2000 Tomo Razmilovic became CEO of the well trusted company, but would abruptly retire only two years later when the company started to become questioned by the SEC on  their accounting  practices.  The SEC soon revealed a wide-range accounting fraud that started in 1998 and only ended earlier in 2002.In 2004 Razmilovic and seven other former Symbol executives were indicted on charges that they orchestrated multiple frauds that inflated the company's sales and profits. Some of the charges were for, such as channel stuffing, candy deals, use of tango sheets and use of cookie jar reserves. Razmilovic made millions from selling the stock before the companies inquiries and he eventually fled to Sweden. He is still a fugitive in 2014 but Sweden  does not extradite suspected white-collar criminals outside the European Union.
